Dr. Mark Conrad, Pastor of Turning Point Church in St. Augustine, FL is concerned about the lawsuit filed on behalf of a 14-year-old Nease High School female student who now rejects her birth gender and wants to be a man. The lawsuit demands that she be allowed to use the boy’s bathroom. The suit has been brought on her behalf by the Lambda Legal, and aggressive supporter to all things LGBT. Lambda litigates in the court and in the media, and their latest cause celebre is transgender accommodation in K-12 schools.
Last week, the church collected a petition of about 370 names of individuals who oppose the notion that a girl can choose to be a boy and use the boy’s bathroom. Many more citizens have written directly to the school board.
Dr. Conrad wrote these comments in the church bulletin this week:
“As of this writing, I have no updates on the transgender issue in St. Johns County Public Schools. As I said last week, it’s a shame that we have to deal with this issue in our public schools. This is not just a Christian issue, it affects everyone in our community…..
At what point did our schools become laboratories, using our children as lab rats to test every social movement in our society? As archaic as this may sound, our schools need to get back to reading writing and arithmetic; not social engineering and manipulation…..
This present issue of allowing transgender children into bathroooms that do not match their birth gender crosses the line of sensibility and spirituality. Remember, we are talking about children and not adults. Growing up is a time of great joy and also great confusion. Children are learning through these years who they are and who they are to become. Society does not need to send confusing and conflicting messages. Rather, it should send very clear and concise direction to our children during these developing years. Why is it that many people do not have a problem with protecting life but see no issue with killing unborn babies? Why is it that we protect our children from sexual predators and yet, under the guise of sexual freedom, invite guests to come to our schools and teach vile wicked things?
Here are some questions that need to be answered:
- If a boy who thinks he is a girl exposes himself to girls in the bathroom, has he committed a sexual crime? How do you deal with showers?
- Who determines who can go into the opposite gender bathroom?
- What are the guidelines that determine when a boy is not a boy or a girl not a girl?
- Who is going to pay for all of this? (Taxpayers?)
- Are we promoting the welfare of children or a vile sexual ideology?
- Where does this stop? (When do we impose a standard?)
- What do we want our schools to teach?
Taking a stand on this issue is critical for parents as well as our society. A line has to be drawn somewhere. The sexual revolution of the 60’s and 70’s has been a complete failure. Instead of an enlightened society set free, we have become a broken people that are in bondage……
Take a stand in love, but take a stand!
