Sparks flew at this week’s Hillsborough School Board meeting as over 75 parents and concerned citizens voiced outrage that the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) spokesman Hassan Shibly spoke at the Steinbrenner School. CAIR founder Omar Ahmed has openly stated that Sharia Law should be the dominant law in America. Community leaders have stated that if Sharia Law is adopted, it would overturn the Constitution. CAIR leaders have stated that their goals would be achieved in part through subversion of the American educational system. CAIR was designated as a HAMAS entity and Co-conspiritor in the largest terrorism funding case in American history.
17 parents and community leaders spoke at the School Board meeting that it was unacceptable to allow a terrorist organization to speak in the public schools. Terry Kemple of Community Issues Council of Tampa Bay said that it was the school’s responsibility to protect children from harmful speech and organizations whose purpose was to harm America. Kemple stated: “CAIR’s teaching violates the Establishment clause of the Constitution by calling for Islam to be the dominant religion, and Sharia the dominant law. The U.S. Constitution forbids an official state religion such as is the case in Iran, and Syria.”
Board member Dr. Stacey White stated that he believed that the question of CAIR in Tampa schools should be approved as an agenda item at the next board meeting. Board Chair Candy Olson sharply disagreed with Dr. White, and brushed aside community concerns. In a harsh reply to the parent and concerned citizens. Ms. Olson said parents should “get over” their fears of Islam, and that Tampa kids were mature enough to understand. Ms. Olson appeared to completely ignore the fact that CAIR’s links to terror is proven, apparently ignoring a letter from a former FBI special agent endorsed by James Woosley, former CIA Director was sent to the Hillsborough School Board.

Terry Kemple urges concerned citizens to contact the School Board and urge that CAIR is barred from Hillsborough schools. More information is available at www.secure-our-schools.com
